[119s Video] Day 5, John Orion of PlayAtCreation.com
Jason Hobbs:
How’s it going?
John Orion:
Hi Jason.
Jason Hobbs:
You doing all right?
John Orion:
Yes. You?
Jason Hobbs:
Doing well. A little bit warm, but doing well.
John Orion:
You don’t look like your picture.
Jason Hobbs:
Oh, I don’t?
John Orion:
On Skype.
Jason Hobbs:
I have a face made for radio. All this video freaks me out. Hey, I just wanted to hear some stories of other people that use Rainmaker for their business. I’ve had one caller so far, you’re the second, so I really appreciate you taking the time. I guess, the other thing is, what was the problem from your perspective that kind of drove you to look for and then end up choosing Rainmaker Platform?
John Orion:
Okay. I started off a few years ago creating a site using WordPress on Bluehost. It was just to get something up there, I wasn’t worried about security, anything like that. Then when I started getting real about bringing [plant 00:01:00] creation to life, I started looking at security and a learning management system, and I wanted to do podcasting and to have a membership site. I actually interviewed a developer, locally, who runs the WordPress meetup group, and he gave me 3 prices. “If you want me to advise you and you do all the work, it’s going to be, I don’t know, 3,500 bucks or something. If you want me to do the work its going to be $7,000. If you want a membership site it’s going to be like $35,000.” It’s like, ooh, wow! It’s because of all the security and stuff you’ve got to get built into that with payment schemes and things.
He saw my reaction and said, “the other thing you might want to do is look into Rainmaker.” That’s when I said, “okay, I’ll take a look at that,” and I did. I was already on a copy blogger following their stuff, and I like their stuff, I like the idea that they are proposing.

[118s Video] Day 4, Danny Liu, Who Are You?
Jason Hobbs:
I wanted to hear different people, hear from some other Rainmaker user that have actually gotten in there and used it to work with their business, kind of their story. What’s was the pain point that drove you to look for, and then eventually find and use Rainmaker Platform? Do you consider yourself a content marketer for your business?
Danny Liu:
Yeah, I guess I do. I’m not an expert at it, but I would definitely say that that’s where things have gone.
Jason Hobbs:
Are your focusing on audio or video? Or text? Or is it a mix?
Danny Liu:
Yeah, kind of multimedia. I’m trying to go with the strategy and approach of less is more, the whole less is more, and re-purposing content. When it comes to my forte, I love doing video. Video is what I’m focusing on. I’m focusing on YouTube, building my Youtube channel up. It’s fairly new, but doing that. Then, providing online digital video trainings on my platform, right now using Vimeo, so I host my videos there.
Jason Hobbs:
Who is Danny Liu? Well, he could be just like you, or, and or me. He’s a dude with goals for his business, and he’s using Rainmaker Platform as part of his marketing mix. I think it’s awesome, so keep kicking butt, Danny. Hopefully we’ll have you back in the future, and we’ll be able to talk further as your business continues to grow and evolve, Rainmaker continues to grow and evolve, and the music that you make together, your business with Rainmaker Platform, reaches symphonic levels.
